Herman Österlund (1873–1964) was a Swedish painter, draftsman, and graphic artist. Born in Arup, Skåne, he demonstrated artistic talent early in life, which led him to study under prominent teachers such as Georg von Rosen and Gustaf Cederström at the Royal Swedish Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm. Österlund's artistic journey included formative travels to Italy, Paris, and Spain, which enriched his style and subject matter.
Throughout his career, Österlund exhibited widely in Sweden, including major showcases in Malmö, Lund, and Stockholm, as well as internationally. His works often focused on the landscapes of Skåne, particularly around Kullaberg and Arild, where he spent many summers. A prominent figure in the Skåne art scene, he was a founding member of the Skånska konstnärslaget and actively contributed to the region's cultural life.
Today, Österlund’s works are represented in several prominent collections, including the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Malmö Museum, and Helsingborg Museum.
