Erik Tryggelin was born in 1878 in Stockholm; he was a Swedish painter, illustrator, graphic artist and photographer.  Erik Tryggelin studied at the Royal Swedish Academy of Arts (Konstakademien) in Stockholm, and also in Paris between 1911-1913. He mainly performed figure compositions and city motifs, often evening moods from Stockholm, Visby and Vadstena. This painting depicting the Solna Forest is a fine example of his talent for painting colourful depictions of Scandinavian nature. We can see the forest in the evening light, the sunset literally glowing in this small painting, and the colours are bright and clear. Solna forest is close to the city centre of Stockholm, only a 10-15 minute walk from Vasastan.
