Alfred Thörne was one of Sweden's most talented landscape painters active in the later part of the 19th century and early 1900s. He studied under Per Daniel Holm at the Art Academy in Stockholm from 1874–1880, and after school, he had a lot of success as an artist. Thörne won a Royal Medal in 1880 for the painting Summer Morning; in 1881, he became agré at the art academy and exhibited at the Art Academy's exhibitions in Stockholm as well as the Nordic Art and Industrial Exhibition in Copenhagen in 1888, the Gothenburg Exhibition in 1891, the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893. The location for this beautiful painting is currently unknown, it's so impressive how Thörne captured the reflection in the water, and the green and yellow leafs with a thicker impasto who gives the composition a three-dimensional effect. The original gold frame is also included in the price.
Alfred Thörne is represented at the Nordic Museum, Nationalmuseum Stockholm, Östergötland Museum, Norrköping Art Museum, Gävle Museum and Sundsvall Museum.
