Claes Erik (Ecke) Alexander Hedberg, also known as Ecke Hedberg, was a Swedish landscape painter active in the early 1900s. Ecke Hedberg studied at the Art Academy in Stockholm and stayed for a short time abroad before finally moving to Tallbo, Gästrikland, in 1901. He never got the recognition he deserved; he is sometimes considered to be one of the more significant landscape painters of the early 20th century and participated together with more famous artists such as Prins Eugen, Nils Kreuger, Carl Larsson and Anders Zorn in exhibitions both in Sweden and abroad. He has been called "Gästrikland's artistic discoverer". His talent in landscape painting can be seen in this magnificent painting called "Two Foxes in Twilight Landscape", with broad spontaneous brushstrokes painted with confidence; he has captured the Scandinavian Nordic light in the best possible manner.
Hedberg is represented at (among others) the Gothenburg Art Museum and the National Museum in Stockholm, Länsmuseet Gävleborg. Compare this painting with " Vinternatt, Vettåsen" in the Länsmuseet Gävleborg collection (inv. no XLM.17504).
